Trader Joe’s Carrot Ginger Oat Bran Muffins:   I’m a fan!  These muffins are so yummy and the perfect on the go breakfast.  Unlike processed muffins that have a whopping 600 calories or so and consist of ingredients you cannot even pronounce, these babies are only 300 calories and consist of the following ingredients: water, white grape juice, rye flour, oats,oat bran, carrots, canola oil, ginger, baking soda, spices, and salt.  Plus, they have 8 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 30% of your vitamin A and 12% of your iron daily values!  They are really dense, and keep you filled for a long time!

Trader Joe’s Reduced Carb Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas: I loveeee these handy and extremely yummy wraps. Yes they are only 50 calories a wrap – but you can easily eat one as a snack with some PB or a slice of cheese, OR as a quick meal, by putting cheese, ham, turkey,  hummus, veggies, or pretty much anything between two wraps and pressing it on a panini press or toasting it in a toaster oven. Yum yum yum, I could obviously go on and on.  Besides the low-calorie count, each wrap has 2.5 grams of fat, 6 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein.  

There are seceral ingredients in these wraps that I recognized – but there was one I needed to look up – Wheat Protein Isolate. Now maybe I just haven’t looked closely enough at ingredient lists and for all I know, this is a very common ingredient that everybody and their momma knows.  It’s like when one day you’re in a conversation with someone a bit more worldly than yourself and you casually mention, “Oh, I would love to go see the Mona Lisa, I wonder where it is…” And this aforementioned worldly person snickers (worldy people don’t just simply laugh, they snicker) because they think you’re joking but then they realize that, really, you’re not and they say, “Oh dahhhling, it’s at the Lourve, of course”.  Sorry, but basically I am saying I have no damn idea what Wheat Protein Isolate is, except for the vision I have in my head of a beefy dude with 3 tattoos of Jesus slamming a protein shake with 3 added shots of Whear Protein Isolate.

CLIF Bar – Blueberry Crisp Flavor:   This bar was very chewy….so as a result, I had A LOT of time to think about the flavor aspect lol…..which I determined I liked!  Def reminded me of blueberry muffins…mmmmm!  They are 240 calories, and provide you with 100% daily value of  vitamin C and E, 9 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, 25% of your calcium and iron, among many other impressive essential nutrient daily values.  A little blueberry bliss for blueberry lovas!

Toasted Nuts ‘n Cranberry Luna Bar:  Okay I’ve never been a hugeeee eater of meal/nutrition bars, however really being on the go recently I’ve been testing out a few, which is why you will probably see a bunch on here… for breakfast I had this Luna bar and it was realllllllly good.  Supposedly it’s a new recipe (?) and I give them 5/5 scoops for concocting it!  70% organic (throwing out the statistics like my mom haha), 10 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, only 170 calories, and high in calcium, antioxidants, and folic acid.  Definitely not over sweet like many bars out there, a little tart, very filling, chewy, and cranberry lovas will go CrAzY!  : )  Plus, no urinary tract infections!  lol  That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think of cranberries, closely followed by the OceanSpray commercials with the two guys randomly standing to their necks in a sea of cranberries.  Bring me there.

I have been waiting to try all the Larabars out there ever since Casey told me about them/I have seen/read about them in blogs and elsewhere……and I’ve been dying to try the Cherry Pie variety….well that day has come! I LOVEDDDDD IT!!!! I love the fact that it consists of only three ingredients: cherries, dates, and almonds. Initially it really does taste like tart and sweet cherry pie, and then the almond flavor kicks in. I love how these bars are unprocessed, contain no added sugar, and cater to those with specific health restrictions, including those that are gluten free, or try to limit how much gluten they intake. It’s deceivingly small for 190 calories, but it’s so dense that it really is quite filling. This bar consists of 18% of your daily fiber, 10% of your potassium, and is a great source of magnesium and vitamin E, in addition to so many other essential vitamins. This bar totally brought me through to the end of work today and gave me that extra energy for my spin workout.
