Hey everyone! Casey here. What? Casey who? I know, I know, I’ve been M.I.A. And I’m not talking about her…

So let me tell all of ya’ll why I’ve been so MIA recently. First and foremost, I have had NO internet connection for the past MONTH and Time Warner is a really unhelpful and unfriendly service provider. They are almost as YUCK-O as Kanye West. And he is pretty yuck-o in my book. Too bad his music is awesome, though. (Does that make me a hypocrite?)

So when we did finally get internet back in the household, for some reason my computer refused to connect to it. I was planning on calling Dell on Monday so I could get back to blogging (I’ve missed this so much, seriously.) but then my mom got pretty sick and had to go to the hospital. Nothing too too serious but she’ll be there a few more days and since Monday I’ve been going to school, work, and directly to the hospital till 9 or 10. Needless to say, I have had zero time for anything else.

This is just me saying hey! and that I’m NOT GONE! Just going through a few things right now =/  I HAVE to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to my amazing friend Ania who has really carried the blog and was basically deserted by yours truly. I love you, Banania! I will make this up to you. How about I find you a super-nice apartment for 20 bucks a  month in a cool neighborhood?

I also need to thank my boyfriend who has been with me, in the hospital, every night – completely ignoring his own needs and responsibilities to help me with mine. You. Are. Amazing.

I promise to be back ASAP! I CAN’T stay away much longer!

Miss you,

As of Monday night……my body hit the wall…….I basically was up all night tossing and turning unable to sleep, all stuffy, etc……

Tuesday I worked from home, yet managed to drag my body to a apartment viewing – in which I got stood up by the broker – which resulted in me randomly sobbing in the middle of a main intersection in Queens…..

I’m not embarrassed to admit this, actually I felt quite better afterwards…..

Given the fact that I was stood up (after waiting awhile), this being the millionth negative apartment viewing/experience it seems, being sleep deprived, sick, and dealing with my current housing situation, the tears just started to automatically flow…..lol…..

I must say, I was shocked how many random people comforted me on my journey home though : )

I woke up today feeling somewhat better, and went to work……..which consisted of today’s main food highlight…..

Lunch: An amazing, immunity boosting, germ killing, antioxidant & vitamin loaded salad – baby spinach, cubes of grilled chicken, a sprinkle of cheddar, tomato, cucumber, carrots, beets, asparagus, roasted pepper, sundried tomato, and aged balsamic on the side……

This salad was gone in about 5 seconds….soooo good!

After work today, I went to two more unsuccessful apartment viewings:

#1: Nice neighborhood, niceeee owners, great price……..crappy basement apartment

#2: A bunch of studios shown to me byyyyy yes indeed – the broker who stood me up….

He actually is a nice guy, but still…..

Anyways, all the places he showed me were in all honestly – gross. It was an older building – and it showed badly.

So the apartment hunt continues!

I apologize for all the apartment venting on this blog recently……but it feels good to let it all out sometimes……it’s been quite the challenging and mentally draining experience…….thanks for listening…..if you still are lol….

Hello everyone!

Today has been full of sneezes, sniffles, and sores….cold sores forming at the corner of my mouth – always an indicator that I justttt may be getting sick….in this case definitely due to the lack of sleep I’ve been getting with this current housing situation of mine…..another reason why I desperately need to find my own place…..another reason why I am quite excited for an apartment viewing I just secured tomorrow night!

I know I have been having horribleeee luck recently with viewings, but third time is a charm right?!?! : )

Anyways, I just finished dinner which was absolutely delish…..rosemary & garlic salmon with brussel sprouts with a dollop of garlic hummus……

Perhaps all the garlic will demolish whatever is attacking my immune system!!!

Catch you all later! : )

Hello everyone!

Well this weekend did not according to plan whatsoever and basically all my apartment viewings fell through, but it was still a gorgeous, eventful September weekend nonetheless! : )

Fun activities included spinning, rollerblading in Central Park, hanging out with friends, grocery shopping (is it weird that I enjoy this?!?), and soaking up the sun!

Not so fun activities included laundry, cleaning & organizing (although I love the feeling afterwards!), and some more unsuccessful apartment hunting on Craigslist…..

I also slept a glorious 9 or so hours on Friday night, however slept horribly last night…..booo…

Well some of the weekends eats included:

Single serving blueberry/flaxseed pancake with TJ blackberry preserves…..

Yummy peach…

Garlic hummus sandwich with green bell peppers….

Some baked squash with ketcup….

(If you haven’t noticed, I use my Mickey plate from Disney basically for every meal….thanks Casey & Mark!)

Some GoLean Kashi Crunch cereal (which always gives me really bad gas – but I LOVE this cereal, it’s a sacrifice I suppose! lol), with sliced banana, PB, and Almond Breeze…

Brussel sprouts (LOVE themmmm, and don’t eat them enough!) & carrots tossed in flaxseed and Paul Newman’s Light Honey Mustard dressing……

And the highlight of the weekend’s eats was definitely this indulgence!!!!!

After rollerblading in Central Park, Travis and I headed to Rice to Riches on Spring Street in Manhattan……

After all of Travis’ talk & raving about this place that solely creates rice pudding……I had to see for myself…….

Well, after trying it finally – let me tell you – I am a believer that whether or not you like rice pudding…….it is impossible to not LOVEEEEEEE theirs!

HOLY CRAP! WOWWWWWW is this place super good!

From their funky interior design and bowls & spoons to their million creative flavors (thank goodness they encourage samples!), this place is definitely one of a kind….

After a billion samples, and 95445088490538 hours later, I finally settled on a half TAKE ME TO TIRAMISU and half STUBBORN BANANA……

I wanted to get a chocolaty flavor – although they were super delicious (sampling!), they were supppperrr sweet, and opted for flavors which I hoped would give me less of an eventual sugar tummy ache!

Luckily I paced myself so prevent this from happening, and have lotsss leftover! : )

Both deliciousss….

I’m pretty sure they ship globally, so it doesn’t matter whether or not you live in NYC – order a sweet treat! : )

A.) Happy it’s Friday!

B.) Totally bummed that the apartment I had an APPOINTMENT to view tomorrow, has been taken! I can’t believe it! I emailed the women to confirm our meeting tomorrow and express how much I was looking forward to seeing the place (and yesss, I really did think this particular apartment was really going to be *THE ONE*), and she emailed me back stating “It’s taken.” I confronted her with another email asking if she ever planned on informing me this, or was I just supposed to show up to a no longer available apartment tomorrow and have it be a waste of my time??? Some people are soo rude : (

So again, another dead end with apartment hunting : (

I was so excited for tomorrow – how things can change in 2 minutes…..and due to a combination of being sleep deprived and receiving this news, I really couldn’t focus the rest of the workday. I actually was able to leave work slightly early, and rescheduled plans with a friend seeing that she was swamped at work still and not feeling well. I made it out in time to also soak up some sun, seeing that it was a gorgeousssss day out. I must say this turned my afternoon around. : )

I have a feeling that I will strike some luck apartment hunting tonight and catch up with some quality sleep! And then, a fun weekend! : )

Anyways, some of today’s eats included:

Banana-coffee oatmeal:

Oats, stevia, cinnamon, flaxseed, mashed banana, splash of skim & coffee! ( I swear, after randomly cooking my oats with coffee one morning – I’ve become a fan!)

California roll and Miso soup! And yes, I ate basically the whole ball of wasabi as it secretly attached itself to a roll without me noticing! Cleared all my passages to say the least! lol

And I indulged in a very sweetttt treat for dessert:

Stonyfield’s organic, chocolate raspberry swirl ice cream……it was heavenly : )

Non-food related…..yet still speaking of sweet…..this hair mousse smells sooo goooddd! I recently bought it, and I totally recommend!

Has anyone else ever tried it before?

I know it’s a bad pic, but its Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Weightless Mousse…….

Check out their Coconut Milk line here!!!

Yay for tomorrow already being Thursday : )

Nothing thrilling happened at work today, and it was a gloomy gray day……

But at least dinner was colorful!

Yummy, sliced kiwi:

And the sweet potato that I was craving on the subway ride home lol….

This guy was very disfigured to start with – very windy, long, and narrow, hence the numerous sections of potato….three of which I drizzled some ketchup on, and the other one sweet with cinnamon! Mmmmm!

And a small glass of unsweetened, chocolate Almond Breeze:

Simple. But the meal hit the spot. : )

– Ania

I have to first and foremost announce: Happy Birthday Mark!!!!! : ) Love yaaaa! Hope you had a great day!!!! Casey better have gotten you some type of FABULOUS dessert to celebrate! I’m sure she did ; )

Well I’m glad I caught up on sleep this weekend, because I didn’t get much last night : /

Althoughhhhh, first, for a quick rewind….I ended up having Indian cuisine for the first time last night! Travis and I went to Seva Indian Cuisine for dinner and it was DeLiCiOuS! Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my camera….

But….. we started with rosemary nan which was soooo fresh and warm and smelled as good as it tasted. Meanwhile, Travis ordered a mango lassi – churned yogurt smoothie, which of course I had a sip of. It was a big hit with him since he is a mango lover, and I have to say it was quite the delicious drink! Not overly sweet whatsoever.

From there, we ended up doing the dinner special……

We both had butternut squash soup for the appetizer, which was AMAZING. The nutmeg flavor was overpowering – in a good way.

For my entree I ordered the Rangeen Chicken – chicken, cauliflower, zucchini, and carrots in a spicyyyy tomato/garlic sauce. I asked for it to be prepared very spicy, and yes indeed it was! My nose ran the entire meal from that point on lol. I loved the combination of flavors……the texture of the chicken was a little weird, but overall veryyy good.

Travis ordered the Lamb Apricot Curry – I had a bite, and although it was good, I definitely preferred my dish selection – and so did he! The lamb was a lot more mild spice-wise, but the apricot addition was different!

Both dishes were served with Basmati rice, which I only had a spoonful of to taste – it was ok – I felt indifferent about it I guess…..

Dinner ended with cute, tiny portioned desserts……I got the Kheer (vanilla rice pudding), which was pretty good – I’ve never had rice pudding before so I didn’t know what to compare it to. After being informed of this, Travis was devastated that this was my first rice pudding experience, because supposedly nothing is better than the rice pudding from Rice to Riches in Manhattan. After checking out the flavors, I have no doubt he’s right!!!!! Like I said, the kheer I had last night was pretty good, but I feel like the rice pudding at Rags to Riches is served at a whole new level!!!!

Travis ordered the Gulab Jamun – honeyed dumpling with cashew stuffing. Both of us weren’t big fans of this ping pong ball sized creation…..the texture was very odd…and the flavor was just so so…..

Overall though, I am very happy with my first Indian food experience. The place is small, but has a very welcoming ambiance and very friendly service…….I give it 8/10 scoops!

After dinner we walked quite a bit – which was great – I was worried of the possibility of experiencing slight indigestion knowing my stomach…..luckily I didn’t really : )

So back to this morning…..despite not catching many Zzzzzs…… spin class was the perfect way to start this week : ) Followed by a typical Monday at work…..

But I did have some yummy eats….

Breakfast: Oats with stevia, cinnamon, water, skim milk, sliced almonds, and dried cherries

Lunch: A couple Wasa crackers, artichoke & spinach hummus, a small, eventually sliced red bell pepper, and a hunk of tomato/basil cheddar cheese:

Shortly followed by this delishhhhhhhhhhh eat of the day:

Stonyfield’s organic pumpkin pie flavored yogurt! I LOVED IT! I usually don’t enjoy yogurts that attempt to resemble dessert flavors – but this particular one rocked! Seeing that it’s limited edition – go buy it now!!!!

And dinner (when I basically chopped my finger off…..which is still bleeding…..excellentttt……) :

BioNature’s gluten free penne with carrots and green pepper, tossed lightly with a scoop of flaxseed and a drizzle of one of my new favorite dressings – Paul Newman’s Own Light Honey Mustard! YUM!

I should go tend to my pulsing/still bleeding thumb : /
